Submission Guidelines

Note: These guidelines have been updated as of June 1, 2006:

We are looking for manuscripts between 50,000 and 80,000 words, but we have come to realize that sending a full MS is a significant burden for many people. Therefore we invite you to send us the first three chapters, or the first fifty pages, or whatever length (up to the full MS, if you wish) you think it will take to get us hooked on your story.

To save trees, please single space your manuscript, but do use a size 12 legible font of your choice. (Our eyes aren't as young as they used to be.) If you want your materials returned, include a large enough envelope with sufficient postage in stamps. Otherwise please enclose a SASE.

Obviously as we are just starting up we are not yet inundated with submissions, however we are still busy at our day jobs, so your patience is appreciated. At Nano Press we are writers as well as editors and publishers, so our goal is to include helpful critiques on the (hopefully) few manuscripts that we don't feel are right for us. At the very least, we'll tell you where we stopped reading, and why.

What are we looking for? Simple. Novels that other writers will want to buy and read. Just remember that "simple" and "easy" are not the same thing. <grin>

These guidelines are effective June 2006. We reserve the right update them as circumstances may require.
